Scarlet WHAT!

There are a whole list of diseases that our grandparents, parents and even us have gotten that our children will never get. You can imagine my surprise when the Doctor told me that Caleb had scarlet fever. I thought that was back in the grandparents generation. Low and behold it is not. Luckily, all the bad things that go along with it only occur if you don't have antibiotics, which our poor grandparents did not. Anyway, thanks to modern medicine he is just fine. He did have every text book symptom - distinct rash on face and body, strawberry tongue, and of course the fever.

The Big ONE!

Daxton turned ONE!

We decided to have a big bash for him because we were around family on his birthday - which doesn't happen too often because we live across the country.

Dax love cars! So naturally he got a race track cake.

I think he really liked the fire!

Caleb helped him blow the candle out.

It was late and he was tired so the whole cake thing didn't go over so well.

He poked his finger in and then cried because he had frosting on it.

Finally he calmed down and ate some cake.

Then he told me he was ready for bed.

Only one and so mature!

Favorite Moments of Dax's life:

1. He came super fast!

2. He was calm and liked to be left alone.

3. He has a quiet cry - even still.

4. He is so happy all the time.

5. He absolutely loves his brother - he could watch and laugh with him all day.

6. He scooted before he crawled - I love watching his little butt scoot.

7. He gives honest to goodness bear hugs.

8. He is curious and doesn't mind getting in trouble in order to fulfill a desire.

9. His favorite word is "NO!" and I don't see him changing that any time soon.

10. He is absolutely adorable with big blue eyes, a button nose, and gappy teeth.

I love this baby!!

There and back again...

We could tell the boys needed to get out...anywhere...just out! The weather was cold and rainy and the sun was not sunny. We wanted to go where the fun was funny.

We tried having Christmas here - that helped a little bit.

We tried Christmas in California - TWICE! Once at Great Grandpa General's and once at the cousins.

And one final Christmas in Utah - the greatest gift of all - Dax started walking.

That's right folks four Christmases in four days. Cabin fever is over especially because cold in NC is nothing compared to cold in UT. We wore short sleeve shirts today.

Movin' on up to a 10K!

I was waiting for our computer stop having a virus in order to post my 10K success- yet our computer is still broken. So, before I leave UT, I thought I would at least tell you all that I am completely awesome. No, seriously awesome! I ran a 10K!

Here is the complete story.

I thought I was going to have to run alone while pushing my stroller with 2 heavy kids. I was not excited! I had planned to walk the fourth mile. Luckily, Dave got off work at the last minute and he was able to push the boys and I ran. I ran and ran and ran. The first two miles were hard because it takes me about that long to warm up. The next 4.4 miles were a breeze. It was great having Dave there to talk to me and push me when I wanted to stop. It also helped having the race in my neighborhood so I knew what to expect around each corner. I finished in about 1 hour and 20 minutes - not great but not bad. When the race was over, I felt great! About two hours after the race, I had the craziest feeling in my body. My hips hurt, my legs were aching, and stretching wasn't helping. All I could think to do to help was to sleep. I woke up and went about my day. It is amazing how fast my body regenerated.

Christmas Joy

Our ward did a fabulous Christmas party this year - we had breakfast. Everything went perfectly well until we lined up for Santa. Caleb was a little nervous but excited nontheless. I put Dax on Santa's lap because he is a baby and never cares who hold him. The sight of Dax on a strange Santa's lap freaked Caleb out and he immediately started screaming and crying, which led to Dax crying. I calmed Caleb down a little by telling him he didn't have to sit on Santa's lap. The picture was taken and a memory to talk about each year. The rest of the day Caleb referred to Santa as "Yucky, Yucky Santa."

Dax's Big Week

It truly is amazing how fast kids grow. Dax has become a big kid and I love it. I love watching him think and figure things out. This week Dax got his first tooth, climbed his first flight of stairs, and climbed up on the picnic bench and sat down and said his first word besides DaDa and MaMa...Bawa Bawa...aka Beowulf. He loves to be outside and will race you to the door when Beowulf needs to go outside. I remember thinking how great it would be when Dax and Caleb could really play together...that day has basically arrived.

He was a little cranky lately but nothing compared to the pain that tooth

has given him since he was four months old. Finally it has arrived.

I love being a mom! Some days it is hard to stay home and be self motivated but it is times like these that help me remember why I love my job.

The Royal Family

I love having a family theme to for Halloween. Luckily, our kids are young enough that they don't care and Dave is busy, therefore, I have complete control of our costumes.

I made Caleb's costume -you can't really see it but there is armor and everything. He loved the sword. It is actually a Kungfu Panda sword that made awesome sounds. It was a hit! (Amazingly enough not really a hit)

He got up on the stage and walked under the curtain letting it drag on his head.
He turned around and did it back the way he came.
It just so happens that the curtain falls off your head approximately
2 inches after the stage ends. You do the math.



Dax has become quite the little crawler.
He looks like he's gonna eat someone.

Caleb wasn't really interested in Trunk or Treating so I gave him a sucker and he watched me pass out the candy to all the kids. It also made him feel better about the falling incident.
